Flash, a longer battery life, outputting video at 1080p, a $1m app competition—these are just some of the ways Notion Ink is hoping its Android-powered Adam tablet will be able to win customers over. The tablet has gone through several different guises since renders were unveiled in December. From the slick silver-edged device , to the roll-topped plastic prototype at CES , the latest renders suggest the final design will be more in keeping with that cheaper-looking prototype, although much slimmer. They’re reportedly considering launching two different models, with the key difference being how thin they are—either 12.9mm or 11.6mm, which suggests different displays being used. Pitting it against the iPad, CEO Rohan Shravan told SlashGear that due to the Nvidia chip and Pixel Qi screen, the Adam will have a battery life at least two times longer. Plus, it’ll be able to output 1080p video whereas Apple’s tablet can only manage up to 576p, AND they’re exploring the use of Flash, which will apparently be shown off next wee Recognizing that despite offering more spec than the iPad they still have a battle on their hands, they’re encouraging development for the Adam with a $1m bounty being put up for creating apps. There’s no denying it: Google’s Nexus One, although being one of the best Android-based smartphones on the market, isn’t selling well . One of the reasons behind sluggish sales is lack of true customer support . Who does an owner of a Nexus One turn to in case of trouble? HTC, the phone’s manufacturer, mobile network operator, or Google itself? This issue is still not solved, but at least now Google gave customers live phone support . Live phone support is available at 888-48NEXUS (63987) and it works from 07:00am to 10:00pm PST; unfortunately, you can’t request tech support, as this line seems to be limited to status and shipping issues . Furthermore, as an international user, my best bet is still going through online forums in case of problems. Google is getting better at this, as they finally realized that providing proper support for a smartphone is a not as easy as launching a support website . Filed under: Gaming , Multimedia , Apple , iPhone , App Store , SDK , iPod touch Game Developer Research has published its 2009/10 survey of video game developers, and the results are pretty impressive for the still relatively fledgling iPhone platform: The number of developers who are working on mobile games increased by 12 percent, and there are actually twice as many developers working on iPhone games as are working on the Nintendo DS and Sony’s PSP handheld consoles. That’s a pretty amazing number, though it’s not quite a surprise when you consider it. First of all, Nintendo DS and PSP publishing takes a much larger investment than Apple’s $100 developer fee and an SDK download. Second, while the DS and the PSP are certainly selling a lot of games, they’re not actually releasing nearly as many as the hundreds of thousands of apps on the App Store . Finally, new DS and PSP games sell for $30 or $40, while new App Store games sell much closer to 99 cents. So the fact that there are lots more people moving to the much more open and accessible platform isn’t really that surprising. The HTC Incredible , a leaked cellphone code name that first made the rounds back in December, is the real deal, as seen in these sneak peak pics from Pocket Now. Can you say brown? You’ll see: Very original Zune coloring, no? Lots of contours and wacky shapes going on in the rear too. There are some specs to go along with the leak, those being an Android 2.1 OS with HTC Sense, running on a Snapdragon CPU. A rumored 256MB of RAM accompanies a roughly 3.5-3.7″ WVGA screen (possibly AMOLED? That’s unconfirmed). But for mobile, it’s not as clear; some people think the killer app for mobile is email, while other say it’s the mobile web. Two men have built a popcorn-making robot that serves up a new batch whenever someone mentions #popcorn on Twitter. Popcorn Tweets was created by Dave Britt and Justin Goeres as their entry into a contest held by popcorn manufacturer Fireworks Popcorn. The pair writes of the invention: “A custom LabVIEW program polls Twitter for any mention of #popcorn, and for each Tweet, activates a LEGO Mindstorms NXT robot to power some Rube Goldberg sort of contraption that makes popcorn one Tweet at a time. “ We sure hope it’s turned off right now, or the two inventors may be in for a hailstorm of #popcorn tweets.
