Social Media Is Like the Internet’s Vodka and Red Bull [STATS]

People lose their inhibitions behind the anonymity of the Internet? No way! While this will come as a shock to no one that’s spent much time on social media sites and blogs, new stats published today by eMarketer demonstrate just how much of an impact that the Web is having on people speaking their mind. According to the research, originally conducted by by Euro RSCG Worldwide, about 31% of adults feel empowered to do something they’ve been wanting to do thanks to social media, while 20% have used the medium to lash out at companies and brands they feel wronged by. The Internet is also a big help when it comes to trying to meet new people. Interestingly, social media seems to have more of an impact on men’s inhibitions than women’s.
