Sure, that Xperia X8 in the picture may look demure, but the FCC doesn’t mess around — mere seconds after we found this shot of the 3-inch, Android 1.6 handset, we stumbled across a PDF showing the phone in — ahem — various states of dress. Now, we try to run a clean site here, so you’ll have to hit our source link to find those salacious pics (and manual) yourself, but if you want some nice, tasteful shots of the device’s exterior and ports you’ll find them immediately below. No new specs here, by the way — it’s the same quad-band GSM HSPA handset with WiFi, Bluetooth 2.0, A-GPS and FM radio we’ve seen before . You might remember that we’d said back in April that AT&T would be picking up the Sony Ericsson X10 in the 30th week of the year. Well, turns out we weren’t exactly right, but it seems we’re going to end up being pretty damn close. We’re hearing that AT&T is lining up for a launch some time between the middle of August and the middle of September; smartphone data is required, of course, and it’ll cost independent dealers $345 per unit (retail pricing is anyone’s guess). Also launching in the same timeframe will be the Samsung Eternity II, a device BGR had mentioned back in June. No details on this one, but we’d assume it’ll be a slicker, higher-spec follow-on to the original Eternity from way back in ‘08. Sadly, there’s no indication these X10s will have anything other than the dusty Android 1.6 -based platform they’ve been running everywhere since their global launch, so get ready to travel back in time if you end up cross-shopping this with the Captivate . Electric Pig is reporting that Sony Ericsson ’s already working on a followup to the Xperia Pureness . The designer of the original handset, Daniel Mauritzson, says that the second version of the Pureness will pack even less “features” than its predecessor, to hone in even further on the contrast between the handset and available smartphones. There’s also been some murmuring of removing the buttons, apparently — which makes us wonder if the next Pureness might not just be a four-inch long piece of black plastic we’ll only be able to pretend to make calls on. Regardless, it sounds like the next Pureness is only in the very earliest stages of design, so don’t get too excited yet — it’ll be a while. Don’t act surprised — AT&T already told you that these two would go on sale this fine Sunday in July, and lo and behold, the carrier looks to have kept its promise. Starting today ( officially , anyway), customers looking for a camera that doubles as a cellphone or a Walkman that occasionally makes calls can bring home the C905a or W518a, respectively. As expected, the C905a (which is available in silver only) will run you $179.99 after rebate and two-year agreement, while the W518a (which arrives in any color you like, so long as it’s black) goes for $49.99 under the same conditions. Any takers? Or are all you SE fanboys waiting to court Rachael ? We’ve been on pins and needles waiting for more info about the Snapdragon-powered Sony Ericsson Rachael ever since we spotted those early images over the weekend, and while the latest pics are still just potentially fan-made renders, it’s the accompanying UI video that we’re freaking out over today. Just like HTC’s layered the Sense UI over Android on the Hero , the Rachael looks to have a polished custom Sony Ericsson interface over its Android build, and we’re definitely digging the vibe — especially the unified messaging interface that displays Facebook, Twitter, email, SMS, and calls all from one screen. It’s pretty slick stuff — let’s just hope it’s real, and shipping soon. There’s also a couple more renders of the funky rear-display Kiki featurephone, but until we figure how SE intends for humans to actually use it, we’re focused on Rachael. Renders and video after the break. Sony Ericsson Kiki Concept [Cellphones]

by admin on July 4, 2009

Mobil delivered this rendering of Kiki, a Sony Ericsson phone with a projected display and um, presumably, somewhere, a keypad. I like green. People need to make more green handsets. [ Mobil via Engadget ]

That supposedly upcoming Android XPERIA that Mobil dug up might have our minds, but it’s this leaked handset (which, to be fair, looks fairly sketchily rendered), the Sony Ericsson Kiki, that has won our hearts. The screen is made of glass, with an image seemingly rear-projected onto it (teleprompter style), while the keys are, um, scarce. Mobil was able to offer few hints as to how this works or what all it does, and it seems like it falls far short of the functionality of a feature phone, but we’re sure we want one whatever it is. Mobil’s dug up these photos of the XPERIA Racheal, supposedly their first Android phone. Exciting, since I love Sony Ericsson hardware. These things are kind of all starting to look the same, but it’s running the Snapdragon platform , meaning it could be 1GHz, and is rumored to have an 8MP imaging sensor. Let’s hope they’ve got the image processing sorted out, though . [ Mobil via Engadget ]

Hello, beautiful. Danish phone site Mobil has uncovered “internal documents” on what appears to be Sony Ericsson’s upcoming Android-based handset, an XPERIA number codenamed Rachael. Under the hood is a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, HSPA and an 8 megapixel camera. It’s unclear how big the touchscreen is, and other details are scarce — there is a 3.5mm headphone jack, so that’s nice, but unless we’re severely misguided, there doesn’t seem to be a slide-out keyboard tucked away inside this thin chassis.
